The Inter-agency Task Force on Financing for Development just recently launched the Financing for Sustainable Development Report 2022. Written collaboratively by over 60 agencies of the United Nations system and international partners, the joint report lays out analysis and recommendations to overcome the "finance divide" and enhance developing countries' access to financing for productive and sustainable investment
This report is critical due to severe setbacks in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life and gravely wounded the world economy with serious consequences. The heightened geopolitical risks and climate emergencies also threaten global recovery and push the most vulnerable further behind. Thus, the report calls on the international community to join forces mobilizing resources to promote sustainable development and prevent further loss.
Due to the importance of this report, INFID wrote a review to provide readers with a succinct overview highlighting key analyses and recommendations. Importantly, more concerted action is expected to close financing gaps and support a long-term, inclusive, and resilient recovery.
