Jakarta - The Indonesian Human Rights Monitor atau Imparsial mendesak pemerintah untuk segera menghentikan eksekusi hukuman mati. Sebab hukuman mati tidak sebanding untuk meminimalisir angka kejahatan. "Fakta menunjukkan, penerapan hukuman mati tidak berbanding lurus dengan tujuan yang diharapkan, yaitu meminimalisasi angka kejahatan," kata Direktur Eksternal Imparsial Poenky Indarti dalam jumpa pers di kantornya Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta, Selasa (15/7/2008).
